Will a MotoTote work with my vehicle & motorcycle?

To determine whether your vehicle can safely haul your motorcycle with a MotoTote hitch carrier, you'll need to check two key factors: your vehicle's towing capacity and the weight of your motorcycle and carrier.

  1. Calculate Your Vehicle's Tongue Weight Capacity:
    • Your vehicle's towing capacity can be found in the owner’s manual. Divide this capacity by 10 to get the maximum weight it can handle on the hitch (this is called the tongue weight capacity). For example, if your vehicle has a 5,000 lbs towing capacity, the maximum tongue weight is 500 lbs.
  2. Check the Combined Weight:
    • The weight of your motorcycle, combined with the MotoTote carrier (around 60 lbs), should not exceed your vehicle’s tongue weight capacity. If your bike and carrier together weigh less than this limit, you're good to go.
  3. Motorcycle Size Limit:
    • MotoTote carriers can handle motorcycles up to 600 lbs, but if your motorcycle weighs more than this, it’s recommended to use a different transport method, like a trailer.
