If your MotoTote carrier is wobbling, here are a few things to check based on where the movement is happening:
1. Movement at the hitch (not at the connection of the MTX Platform to the square tube):
If your carrier still wobbles after installing the ZeroWobble+ system, make sure the barrel nut is properly recessed into the hitch pin hole of your receiver. Sometimes, the barrel nut can get hung up on the lip of the hole, preventing it from fully seating. The ZeroWobble+ will not function correctly until the barrel nut recesses into the hitch pin hole and rests against the square tube inside your hitch.
You can tighten the ZeroWobble+ system up to approximately 55 ft./lbs. of torque. In most cases, you won’t need to go that tight. If you don’t have a torque wrench, don’t worry—just tighten until the wobble is gone.
2. Movement at the connection of the MTX Platform to the square tube (not at the hitch):
If the wobble is happening here, the solution is to tighten the two large bolts connecting the platform to the square tube. These bolts are designed to be strong (1/2 inch) and can handle up to 90 ft./lbs. of torque without breaking. The oversized square opening allows for manufacturing variances, and tightening the bolts clamps the metal securely to the square tube.
Again, if you don’t have a torque wrench, simply tighten the bolts until the connection feels secure.
